On Monday, Supreme Court of India removed Anurag Thakur as the president of BCCI. Also, SC removed Ajay Shirke as the BCCI secretary and sent a notice issued to charges of prejury and contempt.

The court questioned on why the prosecution should not be initiated against Thakur. The court asked Anurag Thakur to reply to the charges before January 19. Also, Supreme Court will replace the top brass of BCCI with new panel of administrators on January 19th.

Justice Lodha said, “this was to happen, and now this has happened. Submitted 3 reports before Supreme court, but there is no implemention. Once SC accepted committee’s reforms in its 18 July order, it must implement. This is a logical consequence.”

Did Thakur’s Requested to Shashank Manohar Really ?

In an affidavit, Thakur said to SC that he didn’t requested ICC Chairman Shashank Manohar about the appointment of a member of CAG refers to ‘interference of government’.

But, Amicus Curiae Gopal Subramaniam said, “Thakur asked Manohar to write to the SC about the appointment”. However, Supreme Court asked to file the response of Shashank Manohar to set the record straight.
