Twin Bomb Blasts in Baghdad Iraq Killed 28 People 54 Injured

Two blasts claimed by Islamic state in central Baghdad of Iraq killed 28 people and injured 54. Blasts took place on Saturday morning in al-Sinak market. Earlier, police said that a pair of back-to-back roadisde bombs exploded.

But later, they cleared the statement by saying that at first, only one road side bomb exploded. After that, a suicide bomber detonated himself in the crowd. Reports said that the terrorists targeted Shi’ite Muslims.

Islamic State contnued its attacks heavily even after losing their territories since 2014. Iraq security forces said that they need three more months to eliminate the IS group from the country.

Haider al-Abadi said, “The available data indicate that Iraq requires three months to eliminate Daesh.”

Heavy gunfire and attack helicopters fired overhead as hundreds of people went back to their homes after the blasts. Lieutenant Colonel Abbas al-Azawi said, “there is a battle in Argoob area which is considered the gateway to Hadba.”

Neighbourhood about the Blasts :

A resident said that a rocket landed on a house in the eastern Mithaq district which killed 6 members in the family. “We have not seen Daesh since the Iraqi forces restarted their offensive. We hear the sounds of large car bombs. Today I heard no fewer than 10 huge explosions,” he said to Reuters.

A shop owner named Ibrahim Mohammed Ali said, “Many of the victims were people from the spare parts shops in the area, they were gathered near a cart selling breakfast when the explosions went off.”

AFP photographer who clicked the pictures of these incidents said, “torn clothes and mangled iron are spreaded across the ground in pools of blood at the site of wreckage near Rasheed street.”
